Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good internet speed for streaming?
Netflix recommends 15 Mbps for Full HD and 25 Mbps for 4K streaming. For Twitch or YouTube Live streaming (upload), you need at least 6 Mbps upload speed for 1080p 60fps. Use the Streamer mode above for a more accurate high-speed measurement.
What ping is good for gaming?
Under 30 ms is excellent for online gaming. 30–60 ms is good for most games. Above 100 ms you may notice lag. Jitter (variation in ping) should be below 10 ms for a stable connection — our test measures both.
Why is my speed test result lower than my plan?
Speed tests measure your actual throughput at the time of the test. Common causes of lower results: WiFi interference (try a wired connection), network congestion during peak hours, ISP throttling, or running other downloads simultaneously.
How is this different from Fast.com or Google Speed Test?
Unlike Fast.com (download only) or Google's embedded widget, this tool measures download, upload, ping and jitter together, shows your ISP and location, rates your connection for 8 real-world use cases, and saves your test history locally — no account needed.
How fast should my upload speed be for working from home?
For video calls (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet) you need at least 3 Mbps upload. For sharing large files or using cloud services, 10+ Mbps upload is recommended. The quality rating panel above tells you instantly if your connection meets the threshold.
What speeds does Starlink get?
Starlink satellite internet typically delivers 50–200 Mbps download and 10–20 Mbps upload, with latency between 20–60 ms — much lower than traditional satellite. Use the Streamer / Gaming mode above for an accurate Starlink speed measurement, as it uses larger file sizes that better reflect real-world throughput.
How do I test my fiber internet speed?
Fiber connections (like Gigabit broadband) often exceed 500 Mbps. Standard speed tests may underestimate fiber speeds because they use small files. Select Streamer / Gaming mode which tests with up to 100MB files to get an accurate reading of your fiber or cable broadband speed.
